C and M Farm is a family owned and operated equestrian stable since 1999 and is dedicated to providing a horse friendly facility. Facilities include a 20 stall barn, a large indoor arena, an outdoor ring, a round pen all with all-weather sand footing, and a cross country course. Private or semi-private turnout options are also available.
Horse training is offered for hunter/jumper, stadium jumpers, eventing, dressage, and western pleasure. There are also many opportunities on the farm and nearby for trail riding. C and M farm is located less than 2 miles from the C & O canal.
Horseback riding lessons and horse training are based on resistance free training principles adopted from numerous trainers. Horse trainers such as John Lyons, Clint Anderson, Pat Parelli, Sally Swift and of course personal experience make our program a joint horse and rider team learning experience. Our horse riding instruction goal is to teach you to ride your horse the way your horse wants to be ridden, making it a true partnership. This is done through a combination of body awareness technics, resistance free training and centered riding principles.
The farm has two instructors with experience riding totaling over 40 years. Melanie has over 20 years teaching experience with great sucess teaching students and horses to ride as one in an equestrian partnership. Robin has over 20 years teaching experience and is a certified instructor through ARIA (American Riding Instructors Association) in the following disciplines: dressage, hunter/jumper, stable management and is presently working for her stadium jumping and eventing certification.
We have tried to provide all the comforts of home for our two legged clients as well as our four legged ones. We have individual lockers, a lounge and a bathroom with shower facilities. For the young future students/observers we offer gym equipment, games and a TV with DVD or VHS movies.
